Invest in our children's future

Mobile Creches was born in response to the plight of children on a construction site - neglected and malnourished. Mobile Creches provided a safe, nurturing shelter for them: the working mothers would drop their children off in the morning, reassured in the knowledge that the little ones would be fed, washed, cared for and loved, while they toiled in the sun.

From modest beginnings it grew into a movement for early childcare and development, of the most vulnerable children on the construction sites and slums of our cities. Since 1969, Mobile Creches has reached out to 650,000 children (birth-12 years), trained more than 6000 childcare workers, and run 550 daycare centres. We appeal to you to strengthen our hand by donating to the Corpus for Mobile Creches (CMC).

  • CMC is a fundraising campaign that seeks to raise Rs 3 crores for the Corpus Fund for Mobile Creches over 2009-11. Mobile Creches has obtained 100% exemption from income tax to the Government of India on all rupee donations to the Corpus Fund. The Corpus will be invested and the interest will yield income - with no strings attached - to be ploughed back into the programme to reach more children with quality care, health and education.

MC had a Corpus Fund of Rs 95 lakhs on Dec 31, 2008. The CMC Campaign was launched on Jan 1, 2009. In the next three months MC collected almost Rs 39 lakhs from 87 donors.

Corpus for Mobile Creches (CMC)

The first years of life - when a child learns to talk, walk, socialize, love, and reason - are the most formative. Before the age of 6, and especially the first 3 years when nutrition and care hold the key, the brain undergoes explosive growth as billions of neurons connect and the foundations for personality and learning capacities take hold.

MC is one of very few, who understands that. MC is a lone voice speaking for the young child in urban slums and construction sites. We appeal to you to strengthen this voice by supporting the CMC Campaign.

The CMC fundraising campaign will run over 5 years and raise a total of Rs 8 crores, of which, Rs 1.3 crores will be raised this year. The 100% tax exemption on all rupee donations to the Corpus Fund, u/s 35 AC and 80 GGA of the Income Tax Act, 1961, is applicable till March 2011, after which Mobile Creches will apply for an extension of the same. A successful campaign will ensure a large Corpus that will yield income to cover at least 15% of our annual budgets in years to come.

For a successful Campaign MC needs help with the following:

  • Raising funds for the Corpus - from individual/corporate/institutional donors
  • Obtaining corporate sponsorship - for fundraising events; campaign souvenirs
  • Recruiting people - fundraisers, volunteers, on a short/long term basis
