Young Children – 16% of our population - made their presence felt in 2006 through the Bal Adhikar Yatra campaign in Delhi (read Breaking New Ground) followed by the release of the Focus on Children Under Six (FOCUS) Report by the Right to Food Campaign on the status of the young child and the ICDS. Mobile Creches was part of the coordinating team of JSAD, which organized public hearings on health in different parts of Delhi such as Dakshinpuri, Holambikala and Lal Kuan. The outcome of these hearings resulted in building direct links with the community and health officials.

  • Mapping the pattern/scale of movement and the impact on families
  • Childcare, health and education interventions with children on/off-site
  • Enhanced Cess collection from builders (1-2% of project cost)
  • Legal compliances under the Building and Other Construction Workers Act, 1996, for worker registration and access to welfare benefits
  • Visibility in the media
